Lake Erie: The daily possession limit will remain at five (5) fish through April 30, 2011. Starting in 2011, the daily possession limit for walleye will be set on May 1 each year. A special publication announcing the new daily possession limit will be available at DNR offices and license vendors starting in April 2011. LAKE ERIE WALLEYE AND YELLOW PERCH LIMITS Lake Erie Walleye and Yellow Perch Limits: Daily limits will be set on May 1 each year. Prior to that time, regulations from the previous season will apply. A special publication announcing current limits for walleye and yellow perch will be available at wildlife district offices and license outlets beginning in April. The updated limits will also be announced through a statewide news release and posted on the Division of Wildlife Web site at wildohio.com.
The following 2010 season limits for walleye and yellow perch will continue to apply ONLY until May 1, 2011.

Walleye Facts
Walleye (Sander vitreus)
• Family: Percidae (Perches and darters)
• Other Names: Pickerel, yellow pike, walleyed pike, white salmon
• Adult Size: Typically 14-22 inches, can reach 36 inches. Usually weighs 2-4 pounds, can reach 16 pounds.
• Typical Foods: Gizzard shad and other small fishes.

Perch Facts
Yellow Perch (Perca flavescens)
• Family: Percidae (Perches and darters)
• Other Names: Lake perch, ringed perch
• Adult Size: Typically 5-12 inches, can reach 16 inches. Usually weigh 0.25-1 pound, can reach a little over 2 pounds.
• Typical Foods: Aquatic insects, larger invertebrates, and small fishes.
